Keeping The Momentum In Pandemic Preparedness
By Doug Kim, Senior Communications Manager, APAC, Cytiva
A transformative partnership is taking shape in Canada’s Prairie region that aims to reinvent global pandemic preparedness. The Prairie HUB and Cytiva are collaborating to create RNA vaccines to target potential pandemic viruses, integrating advanced self-amplifying RNA and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technologies with the guidance of a Nobel Prize-winning virologist.
This alliance brings optimism to the biopharmaceutical sector, especially in light of Cytiva’s annual Biopharma Resilience Index. According to the index, the R&D landscape has weakened in recent years, reflecting declining confidence in the technological advancements and collaboration needed for rapid research development. Over half of the survey respondents identified collaboration as a significant obstacle, signaling that open innovation and cooperation are becoming more elusive in the industry.
The Prairie Hub program underscores a strong commitment to pandemic readiness and strengthening biomanufacturing capabilities and brings together Canada's top virologists. Keep reading to learn more about the partnership between Prairie HUB and Cytiva, a testament to perseverance, innovation, and the pursuit of a safer future.
