Streamlining Genotyping With The INTEGRA VOYAGER Pipette

The Robling Lab at Indiana University School of Medicine uses liquid handling solutions from INTEGRA Biosciences to aid its vital research into bone development and homeostasis. The group makes extensive use of innovative pipetting tools to improve workflows and ensure efficiency.
INTEGRA’s VOYAGER adjustable tip spacing pipette has become an integral part of the laboratory’s high throughput mouse genotyping workflows, for applications including PCR set-up, gel loading and high density qPCR workflows. These innovative pipetting tools allow multiple samples to be transferred simultaneously when reformatting between labware, reducing the time spent on laborious tasks and providing more time for researchers to focus on complex experimental work.
Dr Jean Kok, a postdoctoral researcher in the group, explained: “Genotyping is a big task, and using the VOYAGER has saved us a lot of time. In my old group, we did everything manually, which took a lot of time; I would often spend more than half a day genotyping. In this lab, we have more than 5,000 mice at any one time, but the VOYAGER makes the workload much lighter. It took me less than 10 minutes to learn the basics of how to use it, and anything new I want to do I can figure out in seconds. I am a big proponent of the innovations coming out of INTEGRA, and I really see the value in investing in the VOYAGER when I set up my own lab in the near future.”
