The need for greener processes across the pharmaceutical industry is immediate. At Lonza, a global contract development manufacturing organization, they are working to build sustainability into the DNA of their company — from culture to carbon emissions. As part of their Vision ZERO Initiative, Lonza has strategized how to reduce emissions, water consumption, and waste; two major components of this goal include wastewater incineration reduction (WIR) and solvent recovery. These WIR and solvent recovery initiatives have already resulted in an annual emissions reduction equivalent to the emissions of 54,000 economy flights from London to New York.

In a recent webinar hosted by Lonza, key experts weighed in on Lonza’s WIR and solvent recovery initiatives, and how they have led to significant wastewater and emissions reductions. Download the full article to read the post-webinar Q&A, which covers some of the major challenges and technical solutions that have resulted from these green goals.
