Poor bioavailability and low efficacy arising from poor solubility impact a large portion of pharmaceutical products and often lead to drug failure. Nanoparticles formed using Nanoform's Controlled Expansion of Supercritical Solution (CESS®) technology increase the specific surface area of APIs and lead to a higher dissolution rates and solubility. Nanoformed API particles also expand the increasing opportunity for novel nanoparticle drug delivery approaches.

As 3D printing in pharmaceutics evolves to enable customization of the dose, design of advanced release modalities, and possibility to manufacture customized scaffolds and implants, it is essential to consider the design of the printing ink to avoid changes in the nanoformed API crystal structure or particle size. Explore the findings of Nanoform's experiment to form stable suspension from nanoformed materials and the potential of using nanoparticles in advanced drug delivery applications. Download the poster in PDF to learn more about the the findings from Nanoform, Åbo Akademi University Pharmaceutical Sciences Laboratory, and the University of Eastern Finland School of Pharmacy.
