Pharmacia & Upjohn Purchases IGEN Drug Discovery System

Pharmacia & Upjohn (Bridgewater, NJ) have become the latest major biopharmaceutical company to order the M-Series High Throughput Drug Discovery System from IGEN International, Inc. (Gaithersburg, MD). Other biopharmaceutical companies awaiting shipment of their M-Series systems include Peptide Therapeutics, Agouron, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Abbott Laboratories, Schering-Plough, Zymogenetics, and Novo Nordisk. Pharmacia & Upjohn intends to utilize the M-Series in its drug discovery program.

The M-Series system is based on the electrochemiluminescence module (ECLM), which is the second generation of the IGEN's Origen technology. The ECLM is a self-contained, fully functional diagnostic operating system that approximates 1/20th the size of the first generation of Origen operating systems. The ECLM technology provides the ability to array multiple modules for increased throughput and flexibility.
