<%=company1%> is pleased to announce an agreement with Infarmed of Portugal, to purchase two automated robotic workstations, Zymark's Tablet Processing Workstations, TPW™ II's, to improve the effectiveness of their drug surveillance program. Infarmed, the Portuguese Ministry of Health regulatory agency for drug safety and efficacy, will use the TPW's to verify that tablets and capsules marketed in Portugal meet or exceed international standards of acceptance for uniformity of drug content. The agreement was arranged by Dias De Sousa S.A.. a leading distributor of advanced laboratory instrumentation in Portugal.

The Pharmaceutical Analysis section of the Infarmed laboratory is headed by Dr. Ricardo Davidson. Dr. Davidson has conducted breakthrough studies using automated tablet uniformity analysis in a regulatory environment. "Dr. Davidson's work offers an alternative approach to the routine blend uniformity testing now required of generic drug manufacturers by the FDA." explains Dale Von Behren, Zymark's Pharmaceutical Business Segment Manager. "His studies reinforce the fact that improved productivity promotes improved product quality assurance"
