Horizon Technology develops, manufactures, markets and supports innovative sample preparation products to increase laboratory productivity and improve overall data quality for the analytical laboratory industry.

The flagship product line, the SPE-DEX® Automated Extractor System, automates a sample preparation process known as Solid Phase Extraction (SPE). SPE is a new and preferred process that uses chemically coated extraction disks to prepare water samples for analysis. The first SPE disks were developed and manufactured by 3M in 1989. Today, several major companies such as Mallinckrodt Baker, Whatman, and CPI have entered the market with customized SPE disks. These companies recognize the benefits provided by Horizon Technology's automated systems, and have established on-going sales and marketing partnerships with Horizon.

The current family of products include the SPE-DEX® 4770, 3000 and 3000XL Automated Extractor Systems, the SPEED-VAP II 9000 Solvent Evaporation System, and the SOLVENT TRAP, Solvent Recovery System. The SPE-DEX® system dramatically increases productivity and reduces labor as it automatically delivers solvents, processes the sample, rinses the sample container, extracts the disk, and washes itself. The 4700 series operates up to 8 independent extractors while the 3000 series are 3 station extractors.

The innovative Speed-Vap™ II 9000 evaporates the n-hexane extracts produced by EPA method 1664 for oil & grease testing. The Solvent Trap provides a novel solvent recovery system to condense the hexane thereby minimizing the amount released into a fume hood.

Horizon Technology is headquartered in Atkinson, NH which houses its sales & marketing, service, finance, manufacturing, and R&D departments and applications laboratory.
