RevPrep consistently isolates up to 10 mg of plasmid DNA with a purity (260/280 ratio) of 1.8 from a 300 ml E. coli culture.
The machine delivers high-quality DNA template quickly and at a minimal cost. It consists of two array centrifuges, a bulk dispenser, a robotic pipetter, and a robotic plate-handling arm all in one table-top unit. It utilizes centrifugation-based plasmid prep protocols rather than filter preps. Filter plasmid preps are costly due to the number of consumables required, including filter, input, and output plates. By avoiding this costly filtration method, the machine produces samples at less than 1/3 of the cost.
