Nonhuman primates (NHPs) play a crucial role in nonclinical safety assessments during the drug development process. However, the growing demand for Cambodian NHPs, combined with supply limitations, has made it essential for the scientific community to explore alternative sources. Flow cytometry analysis, a well-established and reliable platform in preclinical toxicology and pharmacology testing, was employed in this study to compare immunophenotyping of leukocyte populations.
Specifically, the study aimed to evaluate two of Altasciences' validated analytical methods for analyzing cynomolgus macaques sourced from the Philippines and Mauritius as potential alternatives to those sourced from Cambodia. This comparison is critical in ensuring the continued availability of NHPs for safety assessments while maintaining the accuracy and reliability of the data.
