Caliper, Zymark ink OEM agreement
Caliper to use Zymark's Twister microplate handler in its LapChip systems
Zymark Corporation (Hopkinton, MA) and Caliper Technologies Inc. (Mountain View, CA) have signed an OEM agreement under which Caliper becomes a volume user and distributor of Zymark's Twister universal microplate handler, Zymark announced yesterday. A key component of Caliper's LabChip High Throughput Screening systems, the Twister automates compound delivery, serving as an autoloader for the LabChip instrumentation.
"The pressure to discover and commercialize new drugs faster and more cost-effectively is pushing the limits of current technology, and Caliper offers a promising new avenue," Kevin Hrusovsky, Zymark president and CEO, said in a company press release. "De-bottlenecking the drug pipeline has to be a team effort; we're glad to be sharing our automation expertise with a like-minded high-tech company like Caliper who can provide other key elements of a complete solution."
