Advanced Test Equipment Corp.

In the late 1970's and early 1980, James Berg had a vision of having an electronic test equipment rental company.

Then in 1981, Mr. Berg, like Hewlett Packard, started his business out of his garage. Using his background and knowledge of the industry, he developed his plan to see a company flourish and supply career opportunities for some special individuals.

Advanced Test Equipment Rentals (ATER) started building a reputation. In 1984 ATER moved into a 1600 square foot facility on Cushman Place.

In 1986, Advanced Test Equipment became a California Corporation (ATEC).

Then a fire on June 4, 1986 destroyed the facility and all of ATEC's inventory and property. With four employees, Mr. Berg was determined not to have this set his dream back. Temporarily back in his garage, records were revived, equipment was purchased, and a new facility was found. Each year ATEC commemorates that fateful day with an open house. ATEC was then located at 2633 Ariane Drive for the next eight years. ATEC grew to nine employees. The inventory grew to thousands of pieces of equipment. Sales expanded nation-wide.
