Patients are already feeling the effects of recently approved, novel cancer immunotherapy drugs such as Nivolaumb and Pembrolizaumb, but with each step forward, researchers are becoming increasingly aware of the complexity and unique challenges that come with each individual’s disease. These include the impact of an individual's microbiome and innate immune system, in addition to complexities coming from targeting the complex tumor microenvironment and discovering immunogenic neoantigens.
