CHALLENGE: MAJOR INEFFICIENCIES WORKING WITH NETWORK OF EXTERNAL RESEARCH PARTNERS
The increasing reliance of big pharma on a diverse range of external drug discovery collaborations has caused severe challenges in adapting existing data warehouse-centric Substance Activity Relationship (SAR) data platforms. The substantial growth in collaborative research requires integration and analysis of compound and bioactivity data from multiple sources in varying formats. This BIOVIA customer has built many large and complicated systems to support SAR data. However, these in-house systems were outdated and not easily adapted for the new types of data emerging from the shift toward biologics and novel bioactivity data.
The exchange of data, Excel files and other documents using SharePoint or email was ineffective, inefficient and not secure. Bringing all the data to internal systems was problematic and questions of ownership of intellectual property often led to data purging.
