CUSTOMER: A GLOBAL BIOTECH LEADER

This leading biotechnology company strives to accelerate scientific breakthroughs from the lab through the clinic to the patient. Scientists working in their Process Development organization create temperature-sensitive biological materials such as proteins and cell reagents that are stored in freezers for use by hundreds of clients, internally and externally, around the world.

The company was already using the BIOVIA CISPro Chemical/Material Inventory Management System as part of their BIOVIA ONE Lab deployment. However, the existing CISPro system did not include freezer inventory management for use by their Process Development team.

CHALLENGE: A LEGACY INVENTORY SYSTEM WITH CUMBERSOME PROCESSES

This company’s legacy system for managing its critical frozen inventory was antiquated and inefficient. In fact, the system was digitally disengaged from the physical processes mirrored. In many cases, digital processes required more effort and took more time than physical processes. In addition, the legacy system’s request feature no longer worked, forcing the team’s clients to use other less efficient means (i.e., email or SharePoint request page) to communicate requests for inventory to the team—a disconnected workflow.
