IBS is a not for profit organization governed by a Board of Directors, comprised of professionals nationwide, with a licensed physician as its medical director. IBS obtains and procures non-transplantable human organs and tissues for the purpose of medical research and education. IBS abides by the guidelines of the Uniform Anatomical Gift Act (UAGA) and the Department of Health and Human Services. IBS works with organ procurement organizations nationwide in utilizing organs for research that are unable to be transplanted. IBS' goal is to give families an opportunity to donate their loved ones' organs & tissues for the purpose of medical research when transplantation is not an option. IBS is committed to medical research and education through the expansion of Organ & Tissue Donation.
