Boston, MA - New Wheat Germ Agglutinin (WGA) FlashPlate PLUS is now available from NEN Life Science Products. This practical, easy-to-use, 96- and 384-well platform for high-throughput G Protein-Coupled Receptor binding assays is a homogeneous platform designed for use with 125I-labeled ligands and cloned receptor membranes. It incorporates proprietary covalent attachment technology which provides a stable, high capacity binding capability.

Fast and efficient, with no time-consuming filtration steps or beads to handle, WGA FlashPlate PLUS yields reproducible results with typical intra-plate CVs of 5-7%. Aspirate and wash steps can be added to improve signal-to-noise ratios, and miniaturization from 96- to 384-well density is easily accomplished, making it an extremely flexible platform. The WGA FlashPlate has been validated on a number of 96- and 384-well receptor binding assay systems, each demonstrating pharmacology comparable to filter binding assays.

The interior of each FlashPlate well is permanently coated with a thin layer of polystyrene-based scintillant. The FlashPlate is then coated with proprietary proteins followed by Wheat Germ Agglutinin. The WGA captures receptors with carbohydrate moieties, thereby providing a platform for homogeneous, high-throughput receptor-ligand binding assays.
