Details

Adrenomedullin (ADM), Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), and Amylin (AMY) are structurally related peptides of the same family¹. Adrenomedullin is a potent vasodilator peptide that exerts major effects on cardiovascular function.

Recent research shows that different receptors bind Adrenomedullin. The cloning and expression of cDNA encoding three different ADM reactive receptors has been reported. One of these receptors, calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CRLR) appears to function as an ADM receptor when coexpressed with the receptor-activity-modifying protein-2 (RAMP-2)3.

Adrenomedullin (human,13-52), [125I]Tyr- binds with high affinity to calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CRLR) when coexpressed with the receptor-activity-modifying protein-2 (RAMP-2)4,5. The binding of this ligand to this and other ADM receptors is being explored.
