The Belly Button is a compact shaker platform that allows for use in incubators and refrigerators as well as on a crowded benchtop. The adjustable speed and platform pitch control provide a wide range of agitation conditions, from extremely gentle to vigorous. The product is a simple liquid agitation system, consisting of an orbiting platform flexibly anchored at four corners so that the motion is an extremely effective combination of rocking platform mixer and orbital shaker.
The device is a very compact shaker with dimensions of 8-in by 8-in by 4.75-in and is designed for use in staining and destaining gels, northern and southern hybridizations, western blotting and rinsing membrances, and cell culture incubation. It is also suitable for retroviral infection; phage elution, amplification of cDNA libraries; mixing of small tubes and blood samples; and immunocytochemistry.
