Liquid-Liquid Extraction System

The Myriad Automated Liquid-Liquid Extractor (ALLEX) provides fully automated liquid-liquid extraction between many combinations of immiscible liquids. It automatically detects liquid-liquid phase boundaries quickly and effectively, handles messy interface layers, and alerts the user if it detects an emulsion.

The product is compact and fits into a standard fume hood. It uses a robot head to provide two-phase separations, dilutions and washes, mixing, simple and scalable liquid processing on racks of multiple vials, flexible vial formats and processing platform layouts, and easy-to-use equipment and interface.

The system uses sensor technology to detect liquid-liquid phase boundaries automatically, and it separates the mixture by aspirating the vial contents into its settling chamber. Once the liquid has settled, the device automatically dispenses each phase into separate destination vials.
