The Model 1050 Computer Interface Freezing System is designed for data base documentation of freezing protocols and graphs, as well as sample information. The computer interface freezing system allows complete monitoring and control of all controlled rate freezing processes. The system includes a 486 computer with dot matrix printer and VGA monitor, MS-DOS 6.0 operating system, cryo-software and RS-232 interface cable, mouse printer stand, 2 ml sample thermocouple, choice of freezing chamber, and stainless steel transfer hose and freezing rack.

The system's monitor updates once per second, ensuring real time/real temperature accuracy. Data analysis updates once every 300 milliseconds. The zoom functions allows graphs to display temperature ranges of 1°C to 20°C and time ranges from five seconds to one hour for monitoring of controlled rate freeze, and the graph comparison capability allows for monitoring protocol integrity. The program sequence is plotted on screen for visual tracking of performance, and steps are printed on graph for permanent reference and comparison to protocol.

Tracking and thermocouple (sample and/or chamber) errors are permanently logged to program documentation. Additionally, the system's monitor continuously displays programmed, actual chamber, and sample temperature. Manual override allows for operator intervention to change program while in progress. A wait-for-temperature function equilibrates chamber and sample temperature before automatically beginning the controlled rate freezing process.
