Automatic Recrystallizer

The P-10 Automatic Recrystallizer is well suited to rapidly perform polymorph searches. The recrystallizer allows users to perform five recrystallizations simultaneously and can automatically recrystallize each of these crystalline zones from one to five times per hour (using zone rates of from 2 cm/hour to 10 cm/hour). In a 24 hour day, 120 to 600 recrystallizations can automatically be performed. This frequency of forming and dissolving crystals will eventually favor the most stable form.

The device can also perform crystallizations from solvents of varying polarity, allowing the formation of solvates or hydrates can be investigated rapidly. It also obtains product purity unattainable using conventional methods by using the powerful purification-by-recrystallization capability, as well as perform crystal aging. The zone rate of the device can be slowed to very low rates, and constant temperature control of both the hot and cold zones allows the crystals to grow slowly in constant equilibrium of both the solid and liquid phases.
